When Richard proposed

Aurora’s Story

One Sunny day in Oz it was my birthday and Richard took me to a cute seafood restaurant. I got to wear my £9.00 next dress that I had bought while visiting dad in Plymouth.

Only to everyone else’s knowledge (and I mean everyone else new, mums,dads, uncles and aunts) that he was going to propose! Even Richard’s dad gave me some money the day before and said ‘Here is some money just in case you get engaged’! And guess what? I didn’t notice because I was packing Christina’s suitcase - my only thought was I’m going to get this suitcase closed!

We went for a walk when he popped the big question and I could only tell from heart that I said Yes!  It was very surreal and in slow motion like in he movies. After some more walking as I didn’t feel so good as my stomach was churning - NOTE to all men that are going to propose maybe think of something other than feeding your future wife to be before you ask her as the stomach churning is not a good thing after you have eaten - but I suppose it’s something to remember.

Anyway after some more walking there was a fire display that was really good and one of a kind but to be honest it did scare me a bit!

Richard’s Story

Several months before we went to oz, I was talking to my sister (Priscilla who lives in oz) about proposing to Aurora, we were coming up with ideas on locations and appropriate scenarios, I wanted to propose to her, but i was only asking her for some advice.

The week before we left one of my aunts called me from oz, asking how we were and if we were looking forward to coming, she then asked when and were I was going to propose to aurora?

Just then it hit me, that the secret was out, and my sister has a big mouth! Almost all my family in oz thought I was gonna propose to her there,  from then on I was secretly planning that perfect situation, when we got to oz I straight away started to look for locations and a ring, with help from my sister Priscilla and some aunts and uncles, we found a nice little sea food restaurant in the center of Melbourne who offed me a free bottol of champs if I proposed to her at the restaurant.

After finding a ring and a restaurant, and after my father almost letting the cat on the bag to Aurora, the day came, I dicided to do it on her birthday and after spending the morning at the beach we made a move to the restaurant, as soon as we got there I started crapping it, the restaurant was packed and the manager was more excited then I was, through out the whole night I tried and tried to bring up the topic and then lead up to it, but after every attempt she keep changing the subject, also on top of that I had the manager walking behind her every 15 mins  crossing his fingers and wishing me good luck.

After finishing our meals I was yet to propose to her. Aurora wanted to go toilet and that gave me time to think, the manager told me to walk along the river and to come back in 10 mins for a fire display outside the restaurant, and that’s were I did it, as we were walking I stopped and dropped to my knees and proposed!
